Abstract

[edit | edit source]
  • Summary of the Centennary arranged tour of Stirling Castle and Linlithgow. The group traveled to Stirling from Edinburgh with a drive through Dorothy Dunnett's birthplace of Dunfermline before heading to Stirling. The group spent several hours on self-guided tours of Stirling and enjoyed a provided box lunch. The opportunity to tour the ruins of Linlithgow Palace was limited due to conservation and restoration work. However, the grounds were beautiful and the view of the loch spectacular. Adjacent to Linlithgow is the still active St Michael's Church and the cemetery where a plaque commemorating the death of Anselm Adorne indicates he was buried nearby.
