Abstract

[edit | edit source]
  • Francis Crawford of Lymond is not always who he appears to be. Introduced to our hero in the Disorderly Knights, Book Three in The Lymond Chronicles, the author is shocked to meet a much different Francis Crawford in Book One, Game of Kings. Is this wayward son who tries to burn down his boyhood home the same man who was disgusted at Gabriel's return of the women and children of Gozo? By the end of Game of Kings, we see a very different man playing music for a dying woman and risking his life for Scotland. Dorothy Dunnett's hero changes his outward appearance many times throughout the six books of the Lymond Chronicles. Which Lymond is the true Lymond? Read this excellent summary of his character in each book to find out!
