Oxford Day 2017 - An Appreciation
Overview and Issues
[edit | edit source]Observations on a Dorothy Dunnett Day spent at Oxford.
Abstract
[edit | edit source]Having attended the Dorothy Dunnett Carnival in Venice the previous year, the author and 3 friends decided to meet up again at DD Oxford Day the following year. Of particular interest to her was a lecture on Thorfinn - the hero of DD's novel, KH - and how Bernard Cornwell's series 'The Last Kingdom' greatly assisted in providing a context for KH. Additional lectures covered the Russian Orthodox Calendar and the life of John Dee (both relevant to RC.)
