Quatrain Reference

[edit | edit source]
  • This quatrain has been interpreted as predicting the death of JFK. On this basis "taillis à la bruyne" should not read "drizzly copse" (or even "misty bushes" as in some translations), but rather "book depository" or "grassy knoll".
  • Dunnett may have chosen to leave out the three lines following the first one in order to not give away the major plot surprise chapter CM 5.12 bears. The final line certainly points towards it with the translation 'drizzly copse'.
