Abstract
[edit | edit source]The author provides a brief history of the changing locations of the Royal Gardens, founded in 1670, which included part of the outflow of the old Nor'loch, well known to readers of TLC. The garden was originally started as a ‘physic garden’ alongside Holyrood Palace with the aim to establish a standard of training for apothecaries. Plants in the Garden have been central to understanding their medicinal power as well as their aphrodisiac properties.
