[edit | edit source]- This is a copy of an early draft (if not the first) of The Ringed Castle, which has been unearthed by Jean Ainsworth from the Dunnett Archives in the National Library of Scotland.
Abstract
[edit | edit source]- It is interesting to see the differences between this and the final version which was published, as well as the various hand-written amendments and corrections. In this first draft Philippa does not appear to remember the 'sapphire pin' incident that is alluded to at the end of CM. DD makes a number of edits to the opening of Chpt 3 in which Philippa decides to write to her absent husband.
