- The DDS weekend in Oxford follows a pattern of well-thought-out presentations and subsequent discussion, balanced by equally well-thought-out social occasions. Simon Hedges stepped up to present the first paper on a topic and subject hardly touched in Whispering Gallery: arguing that there is another side to the character Austin Grey that is rarely acknowledged. "Simon's mission was to challenge the view that Austin Grey is a simple fool. Such a view, he maintained, belittled the judgment of Philippa and Lymond - and underestimated the author." (JH)
