Abstract
[edit | edit source]- This article articulates clues throughout all the books regarding Nicholas's birth, the nature of Julius, possibilities for the ultimate villain and the complexity of Nicholas's relationship with the St. Pols. Dorothy Dunnett describes some of her research into the historical characters in the books and her placement of them into the fabric of the narrative. It also describes the timetable for the writing, editing and publishing of the book.
