Abstract

[edit | edit source]
  • The quote of "Where the links of the chain...joining us to the past?" is an apt title for the DNA research undertaken to confirm Richard III's body was the one discovered in the car park in Leicester. In the analysis of the Mitochondrial DNA (mDNA) by amateur genealogist Gerald Wilson tracing the descendants of Anne of York, Richard's sister, he further discovered that Richard was found to have a highly unusual haplogroup J1c2c3. A haplogroup is a genetic population of people who share a common ancestor on either their paternal or maternal line. The article details the connection between Susan Hill, a friend of the author, and the confirmation that she is in the same group.
