[edit | edit source]- Loose threads and misdirections in the LC and HoN
Abstract
[edit | edit source]The author argues that, despite DD's meticulous research and attention to detail, with 14 novels written over many decades and not in chronological order, that inevitably there will arise authorial inconsistencies and unintended loose threads. She uses the following as examples: 1. ‘Your father’s two sons shall never meet in this life again’ (PIF 2,) 2. Bonne and the Mallochs/Maletts 3. Which child? 4. Güzel 5. The other cousin by courtesy title – Georges Gaultier – name meaning ‘powerful’ 6. The powerful woman ‘with the palatial houses in Lyons and Blois’ (GEM 4.36,) who is Vesalia’s mistress (mother of the Dame). 7. The six children born to ensure Nicholas’s line (C&R) have been endlessly debated over the years.
