"...As the spouse of a devoted Dorothy Dunnett fan, I observed first-hand the incredible interaction, camaraderie, compassion and excitement that many of the members share for this exceptional writer. As we dined, stories of Niccolò’s travels and Lymond’s exploits were told and shared. People described excerpts from the novels and I grew more and more interested as we laughed, sympathised with and besmirched the deserving characters. Observing the enthusiasm, energy, joy, love and passion for Dunnett’s writings being expressed by the group, watching the words coming from their lips, and seeing their facial expressions, I began to realise how wonderful this experience was for me, also. I, too, was energised and excited to understand and want more. That is simply how one can love the works of Dorothy Dunnett without having read a single passage."
