Georg(e) Rekrod was a German military whose life remains mostly obscure. Various sources reveal glimpses of the life of a mercenary leader: he is mentioned only shortly, but frequently, in several accounts of the Schmalkaldic war where he was a colonel under Johann Friedrich Elector of Saxony on the side of the Protestants <ref>Wilhelm Schäfer, Galerie der Reformatoren der christlichen Kirche, ihrer Freunde und Beschützer und ihrer geistlichen und weltlichen Gegner, Meissen 1841, vol. 4, p. 302 [http://books.google.de/books?id=5TdMAAAAYAAJ&printsec=frontcover&hl=de&source=gbs_ge_summary_r&cad=0#v=onepage&q=Rekrod&f=false read online (in German)]</ref>.
