<spoiler> Nicholas and Gelis confront each other at the top of Mt Sinai. Nicholas forces Gelis to admit that the child exists and is his. Gelis says she will give Nicholas the child in exchange for the gold. He accepts, then offers to walk them both over the mountainside. After a dangerous embrace, he walks back down the mountain. </spoiler>
